December 03 2011

Well... woke up just about 3 minutes before my alarm went off this morning.

I slept in my clothes again last night, so all I had to do there was pull on my socks and boots. I disassembled my makeshift bed of cushions from the couch and folded up the couple blankets I used.

I brushed my teeth, threw on my hat and coat. Barb came out to say good bye and I hi the road.

I met Norm at the gas station at the corner of the No. 1 highway and 232nd, just south of Fort Langley at the prescribed time of 7:50. I actually got there at ten to. Norm was already there and we convoyed to the ferry. Norm left his car at the park and ride and drove on with me in the van.

We got the 9 AM from Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay and had a good chat while loading up on breakfast.

We arrived in Victoria a little past 11, officially ending my painting trip.

This has been a great trip. I've really enjoyed it all, the people who I've met, and have been involved in it. It's been a number of years since I've done a plein air trip, and it reminds me of how much I like to do them.

I look forward to the next one... in fact, my mind is already formulating the how, where and when of the next trip. I'll send out another note when I'm ready to go.

Slept not too bad on the floor last night. Got up at about 7:30 and had some breakfast with Barb.

Barb had a couple people scheduled to come over for 10:30 to look at her paintings and take her out for lunch.

So, I went to the coffee shop in Fort Langley. with my laptop and camera and did a while bunch of catch up on the website which I've been behind on this last week.

Stayed at the coffee shop for a few hours and got quite a bit done, including a website update for a client.

Got back to Barb's. Barb and I went out our respective banks and then came back to her place and made some supper and did the art chat over a bit of wine and food.

We watched some TV and I worked on the website and photos while that happened.

I have to meet my brother Norm at the highway tomorrow at 7 AM. We're going over to Victoria for my Mom's 80th Birthday which is this weekend.

 

 

December 01 2011

Had some breakfast with Pauline and Dave, and then helped Dave put a cabinet back into the Kitchen as they had new lino and Carpet put in the kitchen and living room since the last time I was there.

Afterwards, Pauline and I went downtown Ashcroft and had a coffee and an art chat. Pauline and I were throwing ideas around about an 'Ashcroft Plein Air Paint In' in 2012.

I left Ashcroft around Noon and headed for Barbara Boldt's place in Fort Langley.

It was a pretty straight forward trip, which is what one wants. I stopped in Boston Bar for some gas, but other than that, I cruised right through and got to Barb's at about 3:45 PM.

Barb and I hung out and caught up on things... her art stuff and my art stuff.

We made some supper and watched some TV and that was pretty much the end of the day. I pulled the cushions off the couch and put them on the floor and slept there for the night, as it was pretty damp cold out and the house... well it was just a touch warmer. Hmmm... yeah, I think I'll take the house.
